Jason Nasse - Postdoctoral Associate
Meet Jason Nasse, postdoctoral associate in the lab of Dr. Bob Ritter. From our conversation, it is easy to glean how much Jason enjoys his position in a university setting and how his passion for research is the driving factor toward his goals.
Jason grew up in Vermont and moved to Florida directly after completing high school. After living there for a brief period, he decided to attend the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He received his bachelors degree in cellular biology with a minor in chemistry and quickly went on to complete his MS degree at Ohio State. In order to further his career, Jason worked briefly in industry outside of Philadelphia, but realized the limitations and returned to Ohio State to complete his PhD. He has now been a part of IPN for a year and half and enjoys it immensely.
Some of Jason's hobbies include photography, painting, cycling, hiking, and soccer. He combines his love for photography with his interest in hiking in his gorgeous landscape photographs. About a year ago, Jason rescued blue heeler/Australian shepherd mix named Jackson, with whom he also enjoys running.
As a postdoc, Jason engages in feeding behavior research. He focuses on how the brain senses nutrients and changes neurophysiological signaling as a result. Jason most enjoys exploring new pathways and understanding fine details about the brain.
