Promethion Metabolic Analysis
Housed in the VBR vivarium, the Promethion system synchronizes calirometry, food and water intake, body mass, and activity data in either continuous or multiplexed mode. The system consists of 16 complete rat and mouse specific cage setups including: water measurement, food measurement and access control, body mass measurement, wheel and XYZ axis activity monitoring. The system has been in continuous use since its installation in January 2014. The system will be upgraded to 24 complete cage setups in January of 2015.

San Diego Instruments Rotor-Rod
The Rota Rod allows for the study of motor coordination using the natural fear of falling response. SDI’s rotarod system offers adjustable falling heights of 18 to 48 inches, for fear of falling motivation. In addition, photobeams placed below the running rod in each lane assure accurate timings by monitoring each animal’s latency-to-fall separately and simultaneously. The system contains four animal compartments/lanes with seven photobeam detectors per lane at 1/2" spacing, and adjustable 0-50 RPM speed with software programmable run-time and acceleration/deceleration profiles.
